Exciting news has landed, Disney lovers! Visitors have been bummed for a long time that FastPass and MaxPass never returned upon the reopening of the California parks, but new versions have officially launched! The only caveat is they are no longer free as FastPass used to be.
These new services are called Genie+ and Lightning Lanes.
Disneyland App Genie Service
There is now a complementary Genie service in the Disneyland app which lets you set up your travel party and select your interests and preferences to build out an itinerary and tip board. You can then view "My day" and the tip board listing your reservations and other things you've indicated interest in with their event/wait times.
Lightning Lane
Lightning Lane is essentially the new FastPass option available for "ala carte" purchases of one ride at a time throughout the day with a LIMIT OF 2 RIDES PER DAY. Since this is the cheaper option, the attraction available aren't as many as those in Genie+. Prices range from $7-20 per ride. You will only be able to make these purchases once you've entered the park.

Genie+
Genie+ is the new version of MaxPass which allows multiple Lightning Lane reservations throughout the day. It's available for a flat fee of $20, so it would make more sense than purchasing ala carte Lightning Lanes in my opinion. You are just limited to one Lightning Lane per attraction per day. Plus, you can either purchase it in advance of your trip or on the morning of your visit once you've entered the park.

I have not yet used it since I have a pass and can come back to get on rides I missed at any time, but it's certainly valuable for those who are only able to make it to the parks once or twice a year. If you've already used it or plan to, let me know your experience!
