Of course no trip to a Disney park, especially an overseas one, would be complete without
omiyage, or souvenirs, to remember your special day (or more, since admission to Tokyo Disney parks costs only about 70 US dollars, a third to a fourth of the price of what you'll pay in the states!). Naturally there are plenty of places to get everything from plushes, hats, jewelry, popcorn buckets, stationary, home decor, and more all around Disney Sea.
McDuck's Department Store, American Waterfront
|
McDuck's Department Store in Disney Sea |
McDuck's is themed after Donald Duck as Scrooge McDuck and is your go-to place for everything Duffy (the official Disney bear) themed. You'll find a number of large windows filled with attractive displays.
|
Feel like you're window shopping on the streets of NYC. |
|
A cute display of Duffy sweets. |
|
They're so adorable! |
|
They look too good to eat! |
Even if you're not interested in dropping a bunch of money on
omiyage (Duffy merchandise seems to be especially expensive), it's fun to window shop. Here you can see Duffy and his sweetheart Shellie May, joined by their friend Gelatoni the cat.
|

|
Their friend Gelatoni reading a book. Looks like someone spilled a bowl of melted chocolate. |
Venture inside and you'll enter the high class world of McDuck's. In the center of the main room is a golden statue of McDuck himself, and golden pillars and busts of McDuck surround the room.
|
Inside McDuck's |
|
This place is fancy! |
The detail is pretty impressive!
Take a closer look and you'll find gold coins wrapping around some of the pillars.
|
"Real" gold coins! |
Remember, McDuck is always watching you!
|
There'll be no shoplifting on McDuck's watch! |
This being Japan, there will definitely be some extravagant items for sale! Those miniature Duffy sweets look too good to eat.
|
A luxury item for $100 each! |
The most general Duffy souvenir I would recommend is one of these keychains that most boys and girls put on their school bags. They run around 15-20 US dollars, so they're not cheap, but they're a good size for something you can carry around with you.
|
Gelatoni and Duffy plush keychains. |
As you can see, they come dressed in a myriad variety of outfits.
|
So many to choose from! |
Or you might like to bring home a bigger Duffy. Notice the adorable Mickey print on their feet! It's my favorite party of Duffy. The largest bears on the bottom shelf run around $100. Of course plenty of clothes to dress up your bears will also be sold separately nearby, so it can add up quick (and become an expensive obsession if you become hooked, like so many Japanese people!).
|
Larger versions of Duffy and Shellie May |
These are a unique item, too! I haven't seen a Duffy headband sold in America, so they're definitely a great
omiyage that'll make you stand out next time you're at the Disney parks in the US. The last time I was there people kept asking me about my Ariel pass case that wasn't even an official Disney product. It feels pretty good to shrug and say "Japan" when they ask where you got it.
|
Duffy and Shellie May headbands |
One of my friends bought this Duffy sweatshirt. It's so soft and fluffy! I would have gotten one if they weren't around $100.
|
Duffy sweatshirt will keep you nice and toasty during the winter months. |
There are Duffy paw prints on the pockets (which includes Mickey!). Notice Duffy on the elbows! It also has Duffy's round tail on the back for extra cuteness.
|
What a clever detail! |
At this time the park was celebrating it's 15th anniversary featuring a line of specially themed merchandise.
|
Special 15th anniversary items |
|
They are all wearing special outfits. |
The hottest item was this Mickey wand. Remember those anniversary sculptures around the park?
|
Disney Sea 15th Anniversary sculpture |
You need this wand to wave it in front of the sensor, which makes it light up and play music. Kind of cool for when you are at the park, and it definitely
does look cool on its own, but it was about $30 for the wand and an additional $30 dollars for a stand to set it in. Needless to say I had to pass.

More special merchandise. |

15th anniversary keychains |
This is a pretty cool looking mirror, although I'm not sure how you're supposed to see yourself when there are Disney characters in it.
|
A Disney inspired mirror. |
You'll also find no end of adorable things, especially stationary and keychains! Characters as food items is a popular theme.
|
Adorable Duffy and Shellie May themed waffles and cupcake keychains. |
There are also keychain replicas of the popcorn buckets. Of course you could probably get the actual bucket for about the same price, though.
|
Duffy popcorn bucket keychains |
I'd recommend stationary as a cheaper alternative to plushes or other toys; that way you can still enjoy the design. That's not to say stationary runs cheap at Tokyo Disney parks, however. Some of these packs can cost up to $20.

The biggest difference between
omiyage and souvenirs are that Japanese people are always thinking about what to bring their friends, family, and co-workers when they go on a trip, even a local one. Personally I'm only into buying everything for myself (which breaks the bank all on its own), but if you're bringing back something for your loved ones packaged snacks are the best way to go. Once you're done you still have the tin it came in! I like to use them to store things like hair accessories and pens.

No expense is spared to make these tins as gorgeous as possible! |
These pre-packaged snacks include both sweet and savory, Japanese and Western. For example, the set of baumkuchen below.

For even more Duffy-themed merchandise, visit Aunt Peg's Village Store, also in the American Waterfront.
The Sleepy Whale Shop/Kiss de Girl Fashions/Mermaid Treasures, Mermaid Lagoon
|
Kiss de Girl Fashions in Mermaid Lagoon |
This is basically three shops attached to each other. Kiss de Girl Fashions sells baby and small children's clothing. Mermaid Treasures sells toys and girls' accessories, while the Sleepy Whale Shop is your destination for confectionery and Ariel items.
Like McDuck's, my favorite part of these gift shops is the decor inside!

This set includes Disney Princess tea bags shaped like dresses. Very cute!

Choose from your "princess closet": Rapunzel, Belle, Cinderella, Aurora, and Sleeping Beauty |
Like the line of princess-themed shoes, these are my new favorite things to collect! They're Mickey hats themed to each princess. They run around 10-15 dollars each.
|
Mickey hats keychains for each princess. |
Here's a set of Mickey macaron keychain mirrors. Notice how products are often sold in packs, which can be a good thing if you're looking to buy for a bunch of your friends, but expensive if you only want a particular one in a pack that's going to cost you $20-30.
|
A set of Disney macaron compact mirrors. |
Emporio, Mediterranean Harbor
|
Peter Pan and Wendy page markers. Simply flip over the second star to the right on the other page! |
If you're like most Disney park goers, your visit will probably include a stop at Emporio on the way out (careful, if you wait until just before closing it will be crowded!). If you don't have time to do your shopping during the day, Emporio holds the biggest selection of merchandise in one convenient location. There are some really great products I can't wait to share with you!
|
A plastic model of the little green men dumplings you can eat at the park. |
These two-in-one cell phone charms are themed to Disney couples.
|
Celebrate your love with that special somebody with these couples' keychains. They even have the mascots hanging above! |
This display is really cool! I wish I could bring it home to my living room.

It's one souvenir I wish I could take home! |
Mugs are a great souvenir that are also practical.

You'll find more unique stationary items here ranging from characters to actual food served in the Disney parks.

Post card sets in Alice and Fantasia Mickey |
There's plenty of apparel to choose from, like these popular "fan capes" (popular because they're part hat, I believe).
|
Anna "fan cape" |
Most importantly, plushes in almost every character are available.
|
So many characters to collect! |
|
Pooh bear plushes |
Even Tiger Lily! If you're a fan of Max (Goofy's son), he actually has somewhat of a following in Japan, so you're in luck.
|
It's Tiger Lily! What a rare find! |
|
Donald Duck plush keychain holding a biscuit! Now I wish I had gotten this. |
|
Daisy with a Mickey beignet |
As a huge Peter Pan fan, I almost bought this Peter and Wendy set, but Wendy's face looked too weird to me.
|

And lastly, this adorable Mickey burger pouch!

Check
here for a complete list of shops located in Disney Sea. For the largest supply of confectionery, visit Valentina's Sweets in Mediterranean Harbor. Figaro's Clothier's is the biggest apparel store, and Villa Donaldo Home Shop sells household and interior goods. You'll find glass items and magic tricks for sale in Agrabah Marketplace, and Pixar goods at Slinky Dog's Gift Trolley. Fotographica is your destination for photos and camera accessories. Basically you will not leave empty-handed, as there's something for every Disney fan!
In addition there are also special limited edition products on sale based on current seasons, holidays,
and celebrations like anniversaries! Tokyo Disney currently celebrates Easter, Tanabata, Natsu Matsuri (summer festival), Halloween, Christmas, and New Year's. Most seasonal products are available year to year with slight variations.
