Awesome Products at the Ghibli Store That Will Have Die-hard Fans Pledging Their Retirement Funds

I've been updating you all on monthly Disney store products for almost a year now, so I thought I'd introduce you to another fun store I often visit in Japan (but not as often as the Disney store): the Studio Ghibli store, responsible for awesome movies like My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Kiki's Delivery Service. You're bound to have watched one even growing up in the US, perhaps without even realizing it was Japanese! (Although we all thought it was a bit strange that Natsuki and Mei bathed naked with their father in the bath tub in Totoro, right?) In Japan Ghibli movies have a huge following, though admittedly not nearly as popular as Disney. You can find these stores selling adorable Totoro and Jiji products throughout Japan. Here's a sampling of everything you're missing out on!

For starters, these stainless steel cup and washcloth sets emblazoned with characters from favorites like Kiki and Princess Mononoke.

Unfortunately Ghibli isn't really known to be inexpensive  those sets cost 3700 yen (32 US dollars!) But these Jiji cup and washcloths are so darn cute! I bought a teacup at the Ghibli museum just like it.

These are cute jewelry boxes in Jiji and Totoro.

Next is the Spirited Away merchandise  there's a really cool Chinese bowl and soup spoon set emblazoned with dragon Hakus!

Perfect for ramen-loving Spirited Away fans.

The cups above are very popular in Japan. There are also a ton of decorative items like these bowls with radish and chick spirits relaxing in the bath, and a No Face 3-D daily calendar.

Think about relaxing in a tub of green water the next time you're eating out of these Spirited Away bowls.

Spruce up your bland living space with the vacant stares of No Face.
Then there's these decorative figures which spring back upright when you tip them over!

Hours of entertainment watching these Spirited Away characters fall and bounce back up.

If you know or want to learn Japanese, these karuta card games are perfect!

I love these adorable Totoro sweets phone straps and chopsticks!

One of my absolute fav Ghibli movies is Howl's Moving Castle (penned by one of my fav authors, Diana Wynne Jones!) You can guy Calcifer frying pans, coasters, and spatulas.

Here's another 3-D daily calendar in the shape of Howl's castle, next to a bento lunch box that Kiki delivers to the nasty girl's birthday party in the rain (herring pie, anyone?).

I love this other adorable Kiki product! It's a bread-shaped pen holder, but you can literally fill it with anything you like.

You can fill the bread loaf with flowers!

Even more adorable Jiji figurines!
One of the more affordable items are these tiny figures of characters from Miyazaki movies! Of course you'll probably end up spending a ton anyway trying to collect all your favorite characters.

Collect them all! Howl's, Spirited Away, Whisper of the Heart, and Totoro

Even more figurines! Kiki's, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, and Porco Rosso

There's a hole on the bottom so you can pop them on things such as pens.

Porco Rosso has recently appeared at store, one of the lesser known characters. I think the plush is pretty cute!

What do you know, even more display figures! They're really elaborate and fun to look at!

Totoro and Jiji spice up your gardening.

Snowman Totoro is too cute! Plus seasonal themed Totoro picture frames.
The robot from Castle in the Sky is pretty popular, as well as all the bugs from Nausica (rather than the main characters themselves!)

Totoro is always a fave, as well as Jiji.

Plushies are a huge draw, too! Who can resist a fluffy Totoro?

Totoros even come in green!

Towels are popular gifts, probably as most people carry one on them at all times due to the lack of paper towels in bathrooms.

I love the new Calcifer towel!
You'll also love these moving, sound-making soot balls and Totoro.

Clap your hands and roll them around to get them moving!

I'm loving these nesting dolls! They come in Totoro and Spirited Away characters.

There's also a small selection of jewelry. The bracelets are really cute.

I'm really tempted by these "key houses"! Never lose track of your keys again by simply hanging them up.

Of course they also sell some more upscale products, like these gorgeous cups and plates, around 30 bucks each!

Only the die-hard (or rich) fan can afford these awesome cuckoo clocks: they're 300-500 US dollars!
